The Karen Leung Foundation (KLF) www.karenleungfoundation.org is working to save lives in Hong Kong by raising awareness of gynaecological cancer, educating women to increase rates of early detection and ensuring that women in treatment have access to optimal medical care. Founded in 2013, we are the first and only organisation in Hong Kong solely devoted to women's gynaecological cancers. To date, the Karen Leung Foundation has raised more than HK$23 Million to fight gynaecological cancer and help Hong Kong girls and women. The Karen Leung Foundation honors the memory of Karen Leung, a hedge fund trader, who died at age 35 following a diagnosis of metastatic cervical cancer.

The Program Manager will lead the implementation of the KLF programs and development of new projects. S/he will be responsible for providing strategic guidance to the ED and the KLF teams in coordination of program operations.  S/he will provide relevant inputs and support to partners and other stakeholders to ensure integration of program initiatives. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with KLF teams as well as outside agencies to achieve objectives.

Responsibilities 

Resource development:

  • Has knowledge and networks with multi-sectors (commercial, non-profit, government, social) within Hong Kong 
  • Explore new opportunities, platforms and approaches to raise funds and communicate KLF values for wider and new public support. 
  • Source and apply for appropriate funding to support KLF operations and programs to include assistance in writing grant proposals.
  • Program implementation and evaluation:
  • Map and identify potential partners
  • Establish and maintain active working relationships with local partners, local government units and other NGOs specific to concerned thematic areas. 
  • Provide feedback to ED regarding prospective partners and donors and opportunities for resource mobilization. 
  • Assist in implementing local advocacy activities in line with KLF mission objectives (which may include participation, networking, mobilizing the public, engaging the private sector and media, and lobbying with local government units and partners) 
  • Possess an understanding of program evaluation and assist in impact assessments.

KLF Brand Identity:

  • Maintain and enhance the brand positioning of KLF by keeping abreast of market trends. Liaise with media teams to ensure trends are reflected in KLF marketing. 
  • Represent KLF in local and international forums to inspire and engage support from governments, corporates, foundations, donors, volunteers and the public to KLF mission.

Candidate qualifications/skills requirements:

  • A passion for KLF’s mission and objectives
  • 8 to 12 years of experience in an NGO, pharmaceutical, medical or cancer research background.
  • Affiliation with government agencies and/or potential substantial stakeholders is an advantage
  • Prior experience in fundraising and communications for charitable or NGOs is preferred
  • High caliber presentation skills for communication with individual donors, senior executives of trusts, foundations, business and opinion leaders.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, time management and project management skills, as well as an ability to motivate and communicate effectively with others.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to continually monitor processes and procedures to optimize effectiveness.
  • Excellent team player yet able to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced office environment
  • Able to multi-task and take initiative on tasks both big and small
  • Willing to work flexible hours and weekends during high-intensity events and exhibition periods

HK Residency Status:  Must be eligible to live and work in Hong Kong

Education: Degree in health administration or health related degree is preferred

Work experience:  8-12 years of experience in an NGO, pharmaceutical, medical or cancer research field is preferred. 

Speaking Skills:  Fluency in English and Cantonese is essential, fluency in Mandarin is an asset

Writing Skills: Polished writing skill in English and traditional/simplified Chinese is a must

Tools:  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Google Suite/Workspace, Canva, office communication tools (ie Zoom, Slack….), Mailchimp, Quickbooks
